China Glaze Metro Collection for Fall 2011
When I close my eyes and serenity my heed, I encounter my city self…
Fifty-fifty from all the mode up hither, 40 stories above the street below, I can hear the hustle and bustle of urban life. There'southward a afar car alarm whirring like a warbler, its peal rising up through the concrete canyons to my ears. Closer, the throttle of a bus engine opens as information technology pulls away from a adjourn, and cars bear on conversations with beeps instead of words.
I'm sitting at my desk-bound typing below a huge window that almost covers one entire wall of my high-rising apartment in the sky (thankfully, in a neighborhood across the achieve of the fog). From my desk, the window looks like a big blueish painting to my middle. When I become upward from my chair, walk over to the window and look down…
I'm back in Novato once more, continuing in front of my window at home, the sounds of traffic replaced by the distant buzz of weed whackers and the unmistakable cawing of a crow (yes, we can all hear yous, bird!). I look downward a few feet to the familiar gilt hillside of dry grass outside. A gang of wild turkeys (dayum, those things are hella ugly!) is slowly scouring the base of a tall oak tree I can almost affect, its branches ascension well higher up the peak of the condominium complex.
Ah, the charms of modest-boondocks life! 🙂
If you long for the concrete catwalks and sidewalks of your favorite gritty metropolis, you might like the new Mainland china Coat Metro Collection (about $5 per bottle), coming this fall.
The new 12-slice collection of polishes features a mix of by and large desaturated bluish, purple, raspberry, ruby-red, burgundy, terracotta, beige, gray, light-green and Dijon for uptown girls and downtown darlings.
I've ever admired the way Prc Glaze takes chances with greens and yellows, and there are a couple of interesting ones here. Sometimes, they can expect a petty too baby poo-ish/Hot Topic for me, but I call back both are very refined this time.
Trendsetter, a mustard yellow, looks elegant with its gorgeous gilt shimmer, and I think Westside Warrior, a flossy camo light-green, would accept looked right at dwelling house in final year's Chanel Khaki Collection. It seems much more than expensive than $five to me.

I'm a lilliputian surprised (but glad) that with Metro being a symbolically urban center drove, Prc Glaze didn't incorporate more than gray, black and argent, and instead chose to go with more typical colors for fall. While the reds, burgundies, purples and raspberries in Metro aren't especially listen-blowing, I think they're the timeless types of colors that never really become out of style. A layer of one of the collection'southward three glitters could also give any of them a trivial more punch.
Metro may not button the envelope as much as something like 2008'south Text in Colour did, but I think information technology'due south still a solid release with a couple of interesting notes.
Cost: nigh $v each

Riding on the…
Yep, I've been listening to Berlin's Riding on the Metro all afternoon (big surprise). Remember that song? I used to beloved that video… Whenever it would play on MTV I'd terminate whatever I was doing (usually chirapsia upwardly my petty blood brother) and rush over to the goggle box to turn upward the audio.
I used to remember the lead vocalist had the coolest hair!
